Northeastern Eye Institute's Ambulatory Surgical Center (ASC) is the first licensed, Medicare-approved outpatient facility devoted solely to eye care surgery in the Scranton area.

In response to the rapid growth of outpatient procedures, NEI established an ASC in 1985 in order to offer outpatient, as well as same-day surgical care under one roof with minimal interruption to your daily routine.

NEI's state-of-the-art, 5,250 sq. ft. ambulatory surgery center (ASC) is located at 204 Mifflin Avenue in Scranton in its own distinctive wing of the main office. NEI's ASC is accredited by the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care (AAAHC), a leader in developing standards to advance and promote patient safety, quality, value, and measurement of performance for Ambulatory Health Care. The accreditation process involves self-assessment and a thorough review by AAAHC surveyors who have experience in ambulatory surgical centers. This self-analysis, peer review, and consultation ultimately help the organization maintain the highest standards of care and service.

The Center is equipped with:

• Operating rooms for eye surgical procedures including cataracts, glaucoma surgery, retinal surgery, lens implantation, corneal surgery, and corneal transplantation.
• The latest and most advanced phaco-emulsification equipment for cataract surgery.
• A cutting edge laser suite equipped with the VISX STAR laser for vision correction.
• Lasers used in the treatment of glaucoma, retinal, and other vision disorders.
