Am I a Candidate for LASIK?

Millions of Americans have chosen LASIK for freedom from glasses and contacts. In fact, it’s the most commonly selected vision correction surgery available. But while LASIK is an excellent choice for many patients, candidates need to meet some criteria in order to ensure a successful surgery. The LASIK experts at Scranton’s Northeastern Eye Institute have been pioneers in eye care for three decades and would be happy to meet with you for a LASIK consultation.

Successful LASIK candidates need to meet a few requirements, including the following:

  • Be at least 18 years old
  • Have a stable glasses prescription for at least a year
  • Have corneas of a certain minimum thickness
  • Have no major eye diseases or uncontrolled systemic conditions like diabetes
  • Not be pregnant or nursing

If you aren’t a good LASIK candidate, especially if you have thin corneas, then a procedure like PRK could be an excellent LASIK alternative.

If you’re interested in learning how LASIK can give you the clear vision you’ve always wanted, please contact Northeastern Eye Institute today to schedule your complimentary consultation. We are pleased to serve patients in Scranton and throughout northeastern Pennsylvania.
