Are Costume Contacts Safe?

As Halloween approaches, many people look to more and more inventive costume ideas. Among these are costume contacts, designer lenses that produce a look that can be at once frightening and disarming. This makes them ideal for creepy Halloween costumes, but are they equally dangerous for the eyes? That all depends on where you get them and how you put them to use.

If you have questions about caring for your contact lenses, call 855-204-6888 to speak with one of the experienced Scranton eye doctors at Northeastern Eye Institute.

Contact lenses should only be placed into your eyes if they have been purchased from a trusted optometrist. This is the only way to make sure you are selecting a pair of lenses that are safe to wear. As with normal contact lenses, your costume lenses should must be properly cleaned to avoid infection and other problems, and should match your current prescription. We would be happy to discuss this with you in greater detail during your next visit to one of our 18 Northeastern Pennsylvania locations.

If you are considering adding contact lenses to your costume this Halloween, please visit one of our optical centers or call 855-204-6888 to discuss your options with one of our experienced staff members.
