Northeastern Eye Institute’s Forty Fort office is located at 190 Welles Street in the Cross Valley West Professional Building which is just across from the Beer Deli. In addition to Forty Fort, this office also serves the communities of Wilkes-Barre, Hanover Township., Kingston, Edwardsville, Swoyersville, Plymouth, Nanticoke, Plains, Larksville, Pringle, Glen Lyon, Ashley and Sugar Notch.

Our Scranton office is home to our Ambulatory Surgical Center where we offer LASIK, cataract surgery, intraocular lens implants, and other eye surgeries to correct retina issues for patients in Scranton, Wilkes-Barre, Hazleton, and other nearby areas in northeastern Pennsylvania.

About

Education

Dr. Giacometti graduated from the University of Pennsylvania and received his medical degree from Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia. He completed an internship at Lankenau Medical Center in the Philadelphia suburbs, followed by Ophthalmology training at Yale University, where he was elected Chief Resident. He then completed a two-year fellowship in Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston.

Dr. Giacometti specializes in oculofacial plastic surgery, focusing on eyelid surgery as well as treatment of medical and surgical problems involving the eye socket, face, and tear drainage system. Dr. Giacometti’s broad range of surgical skills covers functional and cosmetic upper and lower eyelid surgery, surgical treatment and reconstruction for tumors around the eye and eye socket, surgical repair after trauma around the eye, and surgical repair of tear drain obstructions. He also offers non-surgical facial rejuvenation procedures, including botulinum toxin injections (Botox) and facial filler injections.

Dr. Giacometti is a board-certified diplomat of the American Board of Ophthalmology as well as a fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and American College of Surgeons. He is a member of the highly selective American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery (ASOPRS), which has under 700 US members. He is the author of numerous publications and has lectured locally and nationally.

Personal

Prior to joining NEI, Dr. Giacometti practiced in the greater Philadelphia area. In addition to working in a busy private practice, he also served as an Attending Surgeon on the oculoplastic service at Wills Eye Hospital, where he contributed to the education of residents and medical students. A native of Old Forge, he is thrilled to have the opportunity to provide care in Northeastern Pennsylvania.
